nabo crew jumps on their bikes
naturheilzentrum is participating in the city cycling campaign as a new place of action
cycling for the environment – bottrop's inhabitants are leaving their cars at home. from 14 june until 5 july, bottrop will be back for the city cycling in the ruhr region campaign. farid zitoun and christian rüger of naturheilzentrum are really pushing themselves to make sure that as many kilometers by bike can be tallied up.
nabo is new to the campaign as a place of action this year. “cycling is not only good for the environment,” explains farid zitoun, “it brings joy and is healthy as well.” the two naturopaths and their team are swapping their cars for bikes for three weeks starting mid-june. “several team members are already consciously leaving their cars at home,” says christian rüger, who is excited that the idea has gone down so well with the staff at nabo.
“i think it's great that we're all pulling together,” says farid zitoun. the city cycling campaign is a further chance for the two nabo founders to actively do something for their city in the ruhr region. “it's our contribution to promoting health and protecting the environment.” the city of bottrop took part in the national campaign “city cycling” of the klima-bündnis, an alliance for active climate protection, last year as well. 355 participants in 48 teams took part and achieved a contribution of 76,436 kilometers by bike. “this way, 11,006.6 kg of co2 could be avoided,” says farid zitoun. this result convinced the nabo crew: they want to consciously use their bikes in their daily lives more often, especially for short distances. this gives them good chances of winning one of the great prizes of the bonus card system awarded to the participants. the best single cyclists and teams will be honored. the search for a “city cycling family” in bottrop is new this year.
the condition for participating is to embrace the experiment of living car-free for 3 weeks (as possible) and the willingness to regularly report on what you experienced in the process. the “city cycling radar offer every registered participant the opportunity to mark important information like potholes or tree roots on the map via the internet oder directly via the city cycling app. “this information is important when you're traveling by bike,” says christian rüger. the municipality is open for more ideas. if you would like to participate, add your own ideas or just want to find out more about the city cycling campaign, you can get in touch with the local city cycling coordinator, carina tamoschus at the municipality.
contact: 02041/70-3807 or firstname.lastname@example.org “participants can look forward to three very exciting weeks,” say farid zitoun and christian rüger with confidence. they hope that their commitment to the campaign will motivate even more inhabitants of bottrop to jump on their bikes on june 14th.
