An exciting year is coming to an end - and for most People, this is the time for reflection, rest, and retreat. For us at Naturheilzentrum Bottrop (“nabo” for short), the end of the year also offers the opportunity to review the past few months, as a lot has happened at nabo in 2018. For us, as in the years before, the encounters with People ranked first: whether it’s patients, guests or visitors - all contact in connection with our work is and was an experience which filled us with joy, pride, and gratitude once again this year.
Many People have given great feedback on the #nabomade videos, with their likes, comments, subscriptions, and shares. In doing so, the People around us have given us an incredible amount back. Of course, we dealt with numerous interesting topics in the areas of lifestyle and health again this year. These topics could not have been more varied - just like the People we meet through our work or who, for completely different reasons, have a place in our lives.
For example, the increasing digitization has led us to take a closer look at the subject of data protection – just as we did to the various food trends which we also investigated. Regional & seasonal was an important concern for us, which found its way into many topics - as did smart tips on healthy nutrition.

To the North Pole and back...
… Farid Zitoun and Christian Rüger would like to travel there most - on the trail for helpful tips on health, lifestyle, and life. But they don’t have to travel quite that far, because there are always ideas and suggestions to be found here too. The two naturopaths’ creative pool is therefore far from exhausted - and we are already looking forward to ideas from these two in the New Year. Being well in winter
Don’t just spoil others; do something good for yourself as well. This is how we draw strength each day, which we especially need to be there for others. Because only those who value themselves and conserve their energies can do good to others.
It is enormously important for our emotional well-being to brave the dark and cold days, especially during the winter months - how about some color in everyday life? In fact, colors are not only beautiful to look at but also make a positive contribution to your health. Memories for uns und für euch - keine zeit für burnout?
Everyone loves to revel in memories during the winter and at Christmas time - and we do too. Contemplative candlelight and cozy evenings by the fireplace encourage this. It’s nice to review the old year again. In the Maori culture of New Zealand, People sit down at the turn of the year and mourn for the past – but then, however, look positively toward the New Year. A meaningful tradition, we find!
Looking back is, incidentally, a great opportunity to relive beautiful experiences once again with your favorite People. Taking time for yourself and making time for others. At Naturheilzentrum Bottrop, we have often noticed how important this is in the digital age. From Grandma's winter kitchen to you
The Christmas menu with a special touch: classic recipes with "old vegetables" in a new edition. These vegetables contain essential vitamins and cater for fitness and health, especially in winter. It’s best to have tubers and ingredients from the region – in accordance with the motto "regional and seasonal".
The so-called "old vegetables" can also be refined for your feast with modern elements. How about delicious pasta and parsnips, for example? DIY tip 2 go: ginger shots
Might you be in need of a health booster in between cookies and Christmas goose? How about some vitamins to go? Homemade ginger shots have become a real trend, especially in winter, and have proven themselves to be healthy energy drinks: they build up the immune system, regulate digestion, warm the inside, and also have a stimulating effect. Take a small glass every day - so you keep well and healthy through the winter!
This homemade recipe can be prepared quickly and easily with just a few ingredients, even in your home kitchen. This is what you’ll need:
- 2 handfuls of ginger
- 2 apples
- 3 to 4 large oranges
- 1 lemon
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of turmeric
Preparation: crush the ginger and apples (preferably with a juicer) and collect the juice. Also squeeze the lemon and oranges and mix everything together. Add the turmeric and stir well. Keep the ginger shot in a closed bottle in a refrigerator and enjoy within a week!

Happiness in 2019 - for each individual
We all wish each other a lot of happiness at the turn of the year - but for many, happiness does not seem to be so easy to find at times – if only because it means something different to each Person. Perhaps we shouldn’t always look for the greatest happiness, but seek and enjoy the many small moments of happiness. They can be found in each of us, even if you sometimes have to take a closer look to discover them for yourself.
